SGNP is one of the very few national parks situated right in the heart of a metro city! The park is amazingly well maintained and protected. One can rent bicycles too every morning and roam around in the park. There are plenty of small waterfalls, hikes and trails to visit.Kaneri Caves is one of the main highlight places to visit. It's also a beautiful place to jog/run every morning. You can buy a yearly pass at ₹287 which allows you to enter the park every morning before 7:30.

It was not fun at all. We had to stand in a long line to buy an entrance ticket that cost us ₹94. Then, we had to stand in another line to catch a bus, which cost us around ₹13, as private taxis were too expensive at ₹70 per person. After reaching there, everything was expensive, whether to buy or eat. Moreover, there was no proper water supply, and we had to buy a ₹25 ticket to see the Caneri cave. The guards were not allowing us to explore everything properly; they kept saying, 'Don't go there,' even though we were following all the guidelines. On our way back, we faced the same issue, having to stand in line for an hour to catch a bus. There was no network, and it was quite frustrating. If you plan to visit, please carry cash with you. Also, there were no animals, only monkeys. It's not worth the money and time.

The park is well maintained. We enjoyed the Rent a cycle. It's fun to paddle around in the greenery. The boating also is good. The safari is a short drive. We saw 1 lion and 5 tigers. We even saw deer roaming freely in the village on our cycle ride.Eating healthy fruits in the healthy environment is the best option 😁

I went on Sunday, Kanheri Caves are good, awesome greenery and a nice place to relax and enjoy the open sky by watching the entire national park greenery from the caves.Don't go for Lion and Tiger safari it is a waste of time and money, the price is Rs.135 or so. One lion in an open cage in the lion safari area. Two tigers are there in an open cage, one or two deer freely roaming in the safari area.

A Good Part:You can come to the National Park for a morning walk (at a very nominal yearly pass amount of Rs. 300+) which is the main facility offered for Borivalikars. Timings for the morning walk is 5 to 7:30 AM. Many thanks to NP authorities for this. Also, you can do cycling 🚴 from 7:30 AM to 4:30PM where you can bring in your own cycle or you can hire @Rs.80 / Two hrs.National park has an area of more than 100 Sq Kms. Most of the area is restricted 🚫 and visitors are not allowed to enter in the core areas.Jungle trails / treks are conducted on weekends, where you can enjoy the peace and beauty of nature. Tulshi Lake Trail and Highest Point Trek are most recommended.Tiger / lion safary, Kanheri Caves, Gandhi Tekdi, Boating are other highlights. If you are lucky, you can sight a leopard also on inner roads. Now THE Complaints! There is no pass checking (at least as of now and may be for the last 3 to 4 months) for morning walkers. All "Fukte" (ticketless 😜) people enters for a morning walk without a pass.Since there is no checking at the entrance, visitors enters before 7:30 AM to avoid tickets. This is quite a normal on weekends. Also, there is no control on illegal entries from Thakur Complex, Devi Pada, Rishi Van. 😅Senios citizens (specially Morning Walkers) have made National Park as their own bagicha doing chit chatting loudly, laughing endlessly, singing songs anywhere in the middle of the jungle! People easily forget that they are in a Jungle and not in Thakur Complex ka bagicha. 😝On Saturday and Sundays people enters with loudspeakers and there is no control by the SGNP authorities. No checking of baggage at the gate. Authorities are so confident about visitors that they think every one will obey the Jungle rules! 😉NGOs use the National Park space without paying any and earn money by promoting their activities (doing pravachan activities also 😱). People take yoga / zumba classes and even conduct marathon training by using the National Park area. Who allows this? 🤔Post Covid, vehicles are not allowed in the Park. They are required to be parked in the parking area near the Entrance Gate. However, illegal entry of private cars / 2 wheelers can be seen inside the National Park. Who allows them is a big question. 🙄Last but not the least .. soon, National Park will be the second Film City in Mumbai. Films, serials are shot here in a so-called protected area. Where a normal private vehicle is to be parked near the gate, 100s of crew vehicles including actors' vehicles are allowed (without any kind of checking! 😱) to drive in on the roads of National Park. 🫣Once the ticket is issued at the counter, role of SGNP authorities ends! There is no patrolling inside the Park, on the roads. Only at the check points you can see forest guards sitting there. An Appeal:A sincere appeal to everyone visiting SGNP. Please understand that SGNP is not a garden or a nana nani park. This 100 SqKms of area where you are entering is a protected area of Mumbai, and is a Residence for wild animals. So please follow the Jungle rules and enjoy the Beauty of nature and facilities which are offered by authorities. Thanks! 👍

Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Mumbai is a beautiful retreat for nature enthusiasts, offering a wide range of activities and a peaceful getaway from the city’s hustle and bustle. The park is conveniently accessible, with nearest Borivali Railway Station.Places to Visit:1. Kanheri Caves: One of the park’s main attractions, these ancient Buddhist rock-cut caves offer a glimpse into the past. It's fascinating to explore these structures and admire the carvings.2. Lion and Tiger Safari: The park offers guided safaris where you can spot lion, tigers, and other animals in a naturalistic habitat.3. Boating: There’s a boating area where you can relax on the water while surrounded by lush greenery.4. Cycling: Bicycles are available for rent appx. Rs. 40 per hour, allowing you to explore the park at your own pace. This is especially enjoyable on the park’s scenic trails.Timings: The park is open from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM, but certain activities like the safari may have specific hours, so it’s best to check in advance. In all, Sanjay Gandhi National Park is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience nature, explore historical caves, or simply unwind in Mumbai’s largest green space.

Sanjay Gandhi National park is the biggest National park located within the crowded city of Mumbai. This park conserves flaura and fauna of this city. The environment inside the park is very refreshing and chilled when compared to the city. I believe people should take time and visit this beautiful place once a while out of their busy schedules.

I visited Sanjay Gandhi National Park in the rainy season as well as in the winter season and both times the experience was unique and amazing. When I visited in the rainy season the view was amazing and the water accumulation at all the places just increased the beauty of the place. In the winter season when I visited it was good as well with less water but great weather for cycling. The day was sunny but not that hot a good combination of vitamin D and fresh oxygen. Both times I rented a cycle from nearby local vendors, you can get the cycle inside the parks as well but to avoid rush we booked a cycle on an hourly rental basis and went ahead. Both times when I visited the National Park we went to Kanheri Caves for which you have to pay an additional ticket of Rs. 25 for Indian Citizen and Rs. 300 for Foreign Resident. If you don't wish to rent a cycle you can also use public transport buses starting from the entry gate of the National Park to Kanheri Caves with fare of Rs. 13 only. It was a great experience overall and I can call it a fun and happening day.PS. Cycle rent starts from Rs. 80 an hour till Rs. 150 an hour on the basis of quality of the cycle. If you book for the whole day you may get a discount. You just have to carry one original government ID card for the booking. And no need to worry there are multiple vendors outside National Park who provide cycles on rent.

Great place to visit once from a tourist point of viewIf you are tourist a good half day can be occupied here covering the major aspects of the park ( Kanheri caves , safari ). Few points to note for tourists . Metro station is just 400m from the main entrance1. There are tickets at multiple places -- one at main entrance just for entry, one at the Kanheri cave site, one for the safari( safari booking counter ) which is almost 750m from main entrance. There are electric buggies which transport you to the safari site bus boarding area/ticket counter though( charges additional again for the buggy)2. Kanheri cave site is again 7.5 km from the main entrance. There are bus points available once inside the park. These bus or mini vans take you to the cave site( bus charges seperate ). You can't bring your car here .its a reserve forest !2. There are manual cycle/ bike ( not escooters ) available for rent , just inside the main entrance.80 for 2 hrs ( as in Nov2024) . Still the cycles can't reach to the cave site entrance.you have to park these at 750m far from the cave.and it's a climb walk towards the cave site entrance/ ticket office. So don't suggest as at the cave site you have to again walk lot of steps to see the individual cave /rooms ,unless you like to chill and just ride the bike for hours3. There are many trails /treks inside the park which is given in the many park maps. But many of them are closed so you can't literally ride there on cycle4. If you have max half day or few hours to spent then Safari and Kanheri Cave would be ideal as it's the major attraction.5. Jungle safari just consist of showing lion ( again in a fenced area ) and tigers ( fenced ) at 124 rs / adult which is just fine . They use AC buses for the safari and it takes around 30-40 mins overall. You could still gaze at the difference flora and fauna in the forest on the safariIf there is ample full day available this could be a pincicy place, it has a small boating(pedal) place, orchidareum, biodiversity park( native plants ) cats intro, gardens , sculptures, kids park areas, cycling, monkeys and what not.Overall a huge rich biodiverse park, from a tourist point of view confusing , not so standardized , many sections not open to public, not maintained and list goes on.

Sooooo much to do once you are inside! There's a tiger safari, there' the beautiful lake, huge garden and picnic spot, there's the amazing walk from the gate to the Kanheri Caves and then there are the Kanheri Caves themselves. The Caves are a treat to the eyes. How could such magnificent structures be carved out of rock 2500 years ago! Simply marvelous. There's hardly anything like Sanjay Gandhi National Park right in the midst of India's busiest metro. Highly recommended for a family outing and for picnic with friends. Especially monsoon....this jungle comes to life in monsoon. There's a river and several small rivulets that flow here. Of course, we need more washrooms and water stations in the park now. And better restaurants. The authorities must take notice.

Prestine, green and refreshing all throughout the year... You can walk, cycle or take a bus or a private car to reach Kanheri Caves. It's 5 km inside from the entry gate. Gates open at 8 am and close by 6 pm.Apart from nature, theKanheri Cavesare a cluster of caves that containBuddhistsculptures and relief carvings, paintings and inscriptions, dating from the 1st century to the 10th century CE.Weekends are crowded. Early morning visits are recommended.

Must visit here in 2024, entry fees and lion and tiger safari fee is little high but it is worth going there 94/- entry fee and 124/- for lion/tiger safari, in monsoon season this place is not less than heaven, new electric buses have been made available for safari which is awesome, we can see lions and tigers from that very clearly and closely, 2 lions and 5 tigers are there one tiger is left open in the surrounding area of the park which is worth watching.

We went on a guided nature trail in the buffer zone at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. The guides were fully knowledgable and the experience was interactive and trivia based, making it a lot more fun.For nature lovers with a zest to recall what we learned about the plant and animal kingdom as a kid in school, spot them in real life, as well as enjoy a tranquil walk connected to nature, this one is a must for everyone!

Good place for your weekend spending with friends and family in nature. The government is only focusing on increasing the stream of revenue but no maintenance in kids gardens and other areas. They have increased the ticket price to almost ₹100, if they are increasing ticket prices then also provide extra facilities and good maintenance.

Place is nice bit needs a bit of good management like travelling from gate to Kanheri caves is 7 km but there are limited bus and this waste your time and you’ll be stuck there resulting in missing some other important things like safari or boatingIf you have to enjoy this place properly then come as early as possible to cover every thing. Also bring your own food bcz you’ll get only fruit and salad type fruit here
Manoj G — Google review
The most annoying thing in the national park is that you have to stand several times in queue to purchase different tickets. First, we stood in a long queue to get entry tickets, then in queue to get bus tickets, then again to buy Kanheri cave entry ticket, then again bus ticket, then safari ticket. Why can’t visitors be given the option to buy whatever tickets in the same counter instead of standing in different queues? Toilets are in horrible state, they were stinking. The canteen is in a pathetic state with no electricity and selling everything overpriced. You can see a few tigers and a lion in the Jungle Safari. I don’t know why is it called a Safari, Jungle zoo sounds better for the caged animals. If you are staying nearby, then an ideal place for walks, otherwise not worth visiting.

Overall the place was good and perfect for one day plan.. you can see a lot of scenery everywhere but the bitter reality is you've to make yourself physically fit and mentally peace to wait in lengthy line (Pls refer photos).. If you're having your own vehicle(even a bicycle)there's no problem at all. But if you're planning to take the internal transportation you've to be prepared..I suggest to change or improve the transportation system to provide better and smooth service to the commoners.. for any mode of transportation you'll see a lengthy line everywhere (even in public toilets)..

In mumbai, it's near Borivali. It's better for 1 day trip.Go early in the morning if you want do cycle trip here. 1 way of cycling is 5 to 6 km.You will get cycle inside the park for nearly 200 to 300 rupee per cycle.Carry your govt id card and cash for cycle. It's really nice place in the Rainey and winter season.Totally 400 to 700 rupee is the money you need, based on your comfortably.

Worst service from Maharashtra Government & SGNP. During Sunday's its too much crowded and the management don't even care to provide extra buses. Be aware, They take Ticket of 80₹ at first counter, 15₹ for Bus service, 25₹ per person at 2nd counter at Caves. But instead no proper service at all. Worst experience from SGNP. Think before going.

The best place to visit. They have taken great initiative for animal and plant conservation. They take 200 rupees as a token. You must collect all the garbage you make while roaming around, and when you exit, you have to give it back to them, and then they will give you back your 200 rupees back.Clean place. Greenery everywhere. They have 2 lions n 6 Tigers. Around 50 leopards that do not come in daylight. They have canteen but no parcel system as they don't promote plastic use. Toilets n water counters are there. If you don't wish to walk then you have cars which you have to pay for.Timings are from 8am to 5.30pmSafari tickets price - Rs. 124 per person.Safari visit is must. They also have kids play ground.
